Overview

Al-Waqfa provides fishermen in Kuwait with tide information, slack-tide timing, moon phases, and wind data for marine locations. We respect your privacy, and this app is built to collect as little data as possible.

Data We Use

Location (GPS): With your permission only, the app uses your location to show the Qibla direction and to display your coordinates on screen with a copy option. This feature is for your own benefit: to quickly send your coordinates to the Coast Guard or rescue teams in an emergency, or to note them manually as a backup if your navigation device fails. Your coordinates stay on your device — they are not sent to our servers, not stored by us, and not shared with anyone.

Area coordinates: To fetch tide and wind data, our server receives the coordinates of the marine area you select (from a predefined list of areas). These are fixed coordinates for the area, not your personal location.

Language preference: Your language choice (Arabic/English) is saved locally on your device only and never leaves the device.

What We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect your name, email, or phone number
• We do not require an account or sign-in
• We use no tracking, analytics, or advertising tools
• We do not access contacts, photos, or any personal files
• We do not sell or share any data with third parties

Third-Party Services

To show accurate data, the app connects to marine and weather data providers (such as WorldTides, Stormglass, Windy, and Open-Meteo) to fetch tide and wind information. Only the coordinates of the selected marine area are sent to them (fixed coordinates for the area, not your personal location), with no information that identifies you.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any data from them.

Your Permissions and Control

Location permission is entirely optional; you may decline it and the app will still work using predefined areas. You can revoke location permission at any time from your device settings.
